First Visit

Your First Visit to The Doggie Paddle in Oshkosh, WI

Contact Us

Whether your dog loves playing in the pool or it's their first time, the team at The Doggie Paddle can assess your dog's comfort level and are happy to help.

All dogs' first visit to The Doggie Paddle in Oshkosh, WI must be a Paddle with a Partner so we can go over orientation, rules, and procedures and assess skill level. The dogs will have the majority of the session as swim time with a partner so that by the end of the session, we can more accurately determine which option suits your dog's level of swimming and address your goals.

How We Determine What Best Suits Your Dog

All dogs will start with a floatation jacket, and we will work on the proper use of the ramp to enter and exit the pool. By the end of the session, we can determine if Paddles or Paddles with a Partner will be the best option for future reservations. After the swim time is complete, we have a Dog Wash station where you may rinse off and blow-dry the dog(s) before leaving.  Please remember towels to dry you dog(s), not all dogs are fans of the blow dryer.

What to Know Before Your First Visit

Bring your dog's floatation jacket along. If you don't have one, we'll have some for you to use. Make sure you remember to prepare yourself and your dog before coming to the pool.

DO NOT feed your Dog(s) at least 6 hours before swimming.

We don't want any accidents, or the risk of other health problems.

Here's a list of things you should bring with you for your swim:

  • Extra clothes or rain paints and slip-resistant shoes for yourself (pups love to splash water on their humans!)
  • Toys for your pet; bring their favorite FLOATING toy!
  • Towels
  • 4' to 6' leash; no retractable leashes, please
